What happens in a session

Kundalini Yoga Warm-up

We start with Kundalini warm-ups and a kriya designed to unlock creative energy, quiet the inner critic, and prepare the body for meditative creation.

Timed Figure Drawing

The second hour is devoted to sketching a live model during timed sessions, starting with 2-minute poses and progressing to 11 minutes.

This classic life-drawing format encourages meditative, non-judgmental creation and awakens everyone’s inner artist.

Volunteer Poses & Work Share

Next we open up the space to volunteers to strike a pose. This always loosens everyone up and creates bonds among the group. Muses get to see themselves become art, while artists get a variety of models to sketch.

Want to make it extra theatrical and fun? We bring fabulous surreal props and vintage fashions for an extra cost to help folks step into character.

We close the session by inviting artists to share their favorite sketches from the session.

The benefits of Kundalini Yoga & Figure Drawing

  • Kundalini yoga works to awaken creative energy, balances the chakras, and prepares the body and mind for meditative self-expression.

  • Timed life drawing drawing drops the group into active meditation together, fostering non-judgmental creation while increasing powers of observation.

  • Art modeling has been associated with greater self-confidence and body appreciation, while this method of life drawing awakens innate artistry.

Take it on location

This practice can be modified for any destination or retreat to include landscape art. Artists and yogis explore the connection between landscapes and the body to create personal art and cherished keepsakes. Potent realizations of union and self-acceptance occur when we recognize Earth and body are one in their beauty and power.

Led by a yoga teacher, artist, and model

I’m certified to teach Vinyasa, Hatha, and Kundalini Yoga. I’ve been practicing yoga, dance, and intuitive movement for 20+ years and have participated in 500 hours of yoga teacher training.

Hi, I’m Amy.

Coincidentally Kundalini yoga and figure drawing entered my life around the same time. And something just clicked. I credit these practices with awakening new forms of creativity in me and reigniting a long-lost love of visual art. Since then, I’ve produced hundreds of paintings. Most importantly, I’ve developed an art practice that integrates yoga and movement into a joyful, rejuvenating spiritual experience that I’m eager to share with others, especially with those who don’t think of themselves as artists.

I also enjoy dabbling in art modeling as it allows me to go deep into my meditation practice while experiencing the rush of performance art.

My visual art tends to explore the connection between the body, land, spirituality, and movement, reflecting my lifelong study of dance and yoga.
